Start your engines: Porsche develops more powerful ‘R’ version of its 911 GT3 for 2010 motor sport season
Another Porsche racing car based on the venerable 911— surprised? The Porsche 911 GT3 R joins the Weissach racing stable in 2010 as the successor to the 911 GT3 Cup S.
The new racing car succeeds the 911 GT3 Cup S and Porsche said it offers better driveability and even easier handling.Under the bonnet is a 3.8-litre six-cylinder ‘boxer’ engine, now
delivering a maximum output of 480bhp (up 30bhp on the Cup) and it
weighs just 1,200kg.
An anti-lock braking system, traction control and
an electronic throttle with ‘blip’ function on gearbox down-changes
make it more driver-friendly than its predecessor. Additional flared wheel arches front and rear striking LED rear light clusters make up the exterior mods.
