Porsche scores 20th outright victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring..

  • Porsche 911 GT3 R locks out first and second in the GTD-Pro class
  • Wright Motorsports’ 911 on the GTD podium

Porsche achieved another milestone at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring: the Porsche Penske Motorsport Porsche 963s clinched a one-two finish, repeating last year’s result and handing the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer its 20th outright victory at the endurance classic. Daytona winners Felipe Nasr, Julien Andlauer and Laurin Heinrich earned the top spot in Florida in a gripping battle against fellow Porsche drivers Kévin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor and Matt Campbell. In the GTD Pro class, customer teams Manthey and AO Racing brought home first and second place with the 911 GT3 R. The last time Porsche earned gold and silver in two different IMSA classes was in 2008.Sebring, Fla.

Sebring treated fans to some action-packed racing: 75 minutes after the round two of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship went green, the No. 6 Porsche 963 swept into the lead for the first time. Shortly afterward, the sister car moved to the front of the 55-car field, where it remained for half of the race.

After the last of nine safety car periods, a nail-biting sprint unfolded over the last 16 minutes: with defending champion Felipe Nasr from Brazil ultimately outpacing Frenchman Kévin Estre, the 2024 World Endurance Champion. In a repeat of last year’s success, the factory team’s No. 7 car scored victory in the first two rounds of the season at Daytona and Sebring and extended its lead in the overall standings. The sports car manufacturer also retains its spot at the top of the Michelin Endurance Cup leaderboard, which includes the five longest races of the year.

“We had the right packages with the Porsche 963 in the top GTP class and the 911 GT3 R in the leading GT category,” Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President Porsche Motorsport, said. “We were fast, the drivers kept their cool, and the teams worked flawlessly – we couldn’t have asked for more. Congratulations to our customer teams, the works squad, and all our partners. We’re delighted with this successful start to the season and these major achievements as we celebrate 75 years of Porsche Motorsport.”

“Like last year, we’ve come away from Daytona and Sebring as winners of the ‘36 Hours of Florida’ – I take my hat off to the entire team,” Urs Kuratle, Director Factory Motorsport LMDh, said. “Our team did an outstanding job, particularly during the prep phase, and arrived in Sebring fully dialed in from the very first practice session. From simulation to testing to the race itself, everything came together. I’m proud of everyone who contributed to this success.”

Customer teams add to success
At the 12 Hours of Sebring, Porsche once again demonstrated its dominance in customer racing. In the top GTP class, JDC-Miller MotorSports put in a strong performance with the Porsche 963, at times on track for a podium finish. However, as temperatures dropped at night, the American customer outfit was unable to maintain the pace of the frontrunners and ultimately finished ninth overall.

In the GTD Pro class, the Porsche 911 GT3 R, which received significant upgrades for the 2026 season, secured a one-two finish. The German customer team Manthey celebrated its first IMSA victory with the 416 kW (565 PS) “Grello” fan-favorite, followed closely over the line by the identical model campaigned by the American team AO Racing. In the GTD class, Wright Motorsports clinched a podium finish with the 911 GT3 R in the very final moments of the race.

Driver comments
Laurin Heinrich (Porsche 963 #7):
“Winning Sebring on the heels of Daytona is an incredible experience. A one-two finish for Porsche and Penske – unbelievable. Our team has once again showcased just how strong we are. Our race was flawless and we came out on top. For me, it’s a perfect day.”

Kévin Estre (Porsche 963 #6): “After a few hours, it became clear that the race win would come down to our Porsche and the 963 driven by our teammates. Both cars spent time at the front, and in the end, we just came up short – very disappointing.”

Thomas Preining (Porsche 911 GT3 R #911): “I’m impressed with how quickly we have found our stride as a new team in IMSA. Our team has made tremendous progress. Thanks to everyone who has supported us along the way. Today’s race was challenging and very strategic. The last two hours were like a DTM sprint: flat out, full commitment, and battling wheel-to-wheel.”

Nick Tandy (Porsche 911 GT3 R #77): “A fantastic race. Our Porsche ran really well, and the team did an immaculate job. We had a bit of bad luck during a yellow phase, but we made the most of it with a bold strategy – and it paid off. Congratulations to the Manthey team on the win. We’re thrilled to take the points for our podium finish and are delighted with this strong result. After the disappointment in Daytona, this feels great.”

Porsche ends factory involvement in the US sports car championship

Porsche will cease its factory involvement with the 911 RSR in the GTLM class of the North American IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC) at the end of 2020. The current season will not be affected.

With this step, Porsche Motorsport makes a significant contribution to overcoming the economic effects that the coronavirus crisis has had on the sports car manufacturer. As the reigning champions in the GTLM manufacturers, team and drivers classification, Porsche currently ranks second in the championship with its American partner squad Core autosport after the season-opening 24 Hours of Daytona.

After taking an essential break for health safety reasons, the IMSA championship plans to resume its racing activities on the first weekend in July. The restart will be held at Daytona.

Porsche Motorsport would like to bid farewell to the series by defending its title.

Fritz Enzinger, Vice President Porsche Motorsport, 2020, Porsche AG

Fritz Enzinger, Vice President Porsche Motorsport

The support of customer teams in the GTD class of the IWSC, as well as the Michelin Pilot Challenge (GT4) and the GT3 Cup Challenge USA, will continue unchanged in cooperation with Porsche Motorsport North America and Porsche Cars North America.

“The decision to halt our factory involvement in the IMSA series was not an easy one for us,” emphasises Fritz Enzinger, Vice President Porsche Motorsport. “With a view to the current corporate situation in connection with the Coronavirus pandemic, it is only logical for Porsche Motorsport to make a contribution to coping with the economic fallout. We’ve openly discussed our exit with all involved. At this point, we’d like to convey our sincere thanks to Jim France and the colleagues at IMSA for their understanding. Porsche belongs in endurance racing. We will work hard to ensure that this is only a temporary Auf Wiedersehen.”

Pascal Zurlinden (Director Factory Motorsport): “For us sportspeople, such endings are always painful. For our operational team Core autosport and everyone involved, I’m very sorry that we were unable to make this decision with more lead time. At the same time, I’d like to thank everyone affected by this for their professional handling of this situation.”

Steffen Höllwarth (Head of Operations IMSA Championship at Porsche Motorsport): “We hope that this season’s races will still be contested so that we don’t leave the IMSA stage soundlessl. Of course, such decisions impact the mood, but we’re all professionals and we’re now focusing on the remaining races of the current season.”

Simona De Silvestro and Thomas Preining join the Porsche Formula E project

Simona De Silvestro and Thomas Preining join the Porsche Formula E project

Press Release 30 September 2019 New faces in the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team

Simona De Silvestro and Thomas Preining join the Formula E project

Stuttgart. In Simona De Silvestro and Thomas Preining, the TAG Heuer Porsche For- mula E Team welcomes two newcomers on board. De Silvestro and Preining will sup- port the works team as test and development drivers in its debut season. They are involved in the simulator work in Weissach and will be on-site at select Formula E races. The two drivers will also be available to the team for in-season testing.

Experience and expertise

De Silvestro is no stranger to the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. The 31-year-old Swiss woman already has experience of the world’s first fully-electric street racing se- ries. She drove in the final two races of the Formula E inaugural season in 2014/15. She was then signed as a regular driver by Andretti for the 2015/16 season. Last sea- son, 2018/19, she supported the Venturi Formula E Team as a test driver.

Even as a youngster, De Silvestro was passionate about motor racing. Since then, she has passed through many different professional motorsport formulas having started her career in karting, before moving to America at the age of 18. De Silvestro finished fourth in Formula BMW USA in 2006. She then raced in the Atlantic Championship and IndyCar Series. In 2010, she was named Rookie of the Year at the Indianapolis 500. In 2013, she finished second to earn a spot on the podium in Houston. She then had a brief foray into Formula 1 as an affiliated driver with the Sauber F1 Team in 2014. The Swiss woman has spent the last three years competing in the Australian Super- cars Championship. De Silvestro is the first female Porsche works driver.

Youngster from Porsche’s own talent factory

Thomas Preining has been a permanent fixture in the Porsche squad since 2017. How- ever, in joining the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, the 21-year-old Porsche Young Professional is entering new territory, having previously driven in various GT classes.

Despite still being at the start of his career, Preining can look back on numerous suc- cesses. After starting out in karting, he raced up in the ADAC Formula 4 Championship, before switching to the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland as a Porsche Junior in 2017. The Austrian caught the attention of the motorsport community in the same year, fin- ishing second in the rookie standings.

The youngster then dominated the 2018 season, winning ten races on his way to the title. Preining also impressed in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. He finished third in the Drivers’ Championship and, together with cham- pion Michael Ammermüller, secured the Team title for Lechner Racing. In 2019, now a Porsche Young Professional, Preining is driving for Porsche customer team Gulf Racing in the FIA WEC (GTE-AM class) and also competes in the ADAC GT Masters with Herbert Motorsport.

He and his team-mates finished fourth in the 6 Hours of Fuji, the 1000 Miles of Sebring, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Fritz Enzinger (Vice President Porsche Motorsport and Group Motorsport Volkswagen AG):

“In Simona and Thomas, we have acquired two proven talents for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team. Simona comes with a wealth of experience gained in various different race series and is also a familiar face in Formula E. We are looking forward to working with her and welcome her to the Porsche family. Thomas has been with us since 2017, during which time he has demonstrated his talent in GT racing on numerous occasions. With the Formula E programme, we are giving Simona and Thomas the opportunity to develop as drivers and to make a positive contribution to the Porsche Formula E project.”

Carlo Wiggers (Director Team Management & Business Relations Porsche Mo- torsport):

“We are delighted to have secured the services of two outstanding racing drivers for the Porsche Formula E programme, in Simona and Thomas.

As well as their sporting attributes, they are also both very well suited to our team. Simona and Thomas are excellent team players, who are very keen to help move the team forward. That is one of the keys to success in Formula E. Their experience and tireless dedication, both on and off the track, complete their profiles. With these two additional drivers, our over- all package is really taking shape. This gives us confidence for our first season in For- mula E.”

Simona De Silvestro (Porsche works driver):

“It is a great honour to work for this prestigious brand. I am really looking forward to my new role as test and development driver for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team. Over the last few years, I have gained a lot of experience from my previous involvements in Formula E. I will do my best to help Porsche on the road to success.”

Thomas Preining (Porsche Young Professional):

“I am very much looking forward to my new role in the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team. I have followed Formula E closely from the word go. I am very excited to see what it feels like to drive the Porsche 99X Electric on the track. It is great to be able to support Porsche in its debut season in Formula E, and to be a part of this future-oriented project from the outset.”

Porsche SE: Family speakers honour the lifetime achievement of Prof. Dr. Ferdinand K. Piëch

Stuttgart, 27. August 2019

“We mourn with the family the loss of Ferdinand K. Piëch, the extraordinary manager and engineer, the strategist and simply the car-enthusiast, who he was all his life.”

With these words Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Porsche Automobil Holding SE (“Porsche SE“), Stuttgart, and speaker of the Porsche family, responded to the news of the death of  Porsche SE’s long-time former member of the Supervisory Board and past shareholder, Ferdinand K. Piëch.

At the same time Dr. Porsche emphasized, that over decades the life path of Ferdinand K. Piëch was closely interwoven with his own:

“My cousin and I shared many memories. At the centre stage was the struggle for the legacy of our grandfather Ferdinand Porsche which we have carried forward successfully.”

Dr. Hans Michel Piëch, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Porsche SE and speaker of the Piëch family said:

“The life’s work of my brother goes above and beyond the companies he worked for. He shaped the German car industry more than any other. And he was closely related to the employees of the Volkswagen Group, in both good times and in bad. Our thoughts are with his wife Ursula and his children. We mourn with them as we mourn with the employees of the Volkswagen Group and all car-enthusiasts, whose lives Ferdinand K. Piëch enriched with his passion.”

• 24-hour races are the supreme discipline in motorsports. Every year, more than 200,000 fans meet in Le Mans for the race over the weekend. This book goes behind the scenes to document every detail and emotion

• The photographer and author spent three years following the Porsche team

Endurance races are the supreme discipline in motorsports. Several times per year, the best race drivers worldwide are on the tracks for 24 hours.

The 24-hour races at the Nürburgring and in Daytona are the toughest tests for man and material. Le Mans as the third run is the icon among the legendary races. In recent years, Porsche set standards in the endurance race world championship – with perfection and passion.

Star photographer Frank Kayser and his team observed the delicate and deeply exhausting work of the Porsche team for three years. The world-famous photographer was allowed where other press photographers were not: in the pit, in the pit lane during the change of tyres and drivers, in the closed off areas of the racers’ quarters.

His photos show the stress, the top performance, the eternal night, and the success of perfection.

With photography by Kayser, detailing a world previously unseen by outsiders, and a passionate text by journalist Heike Hientzsch sketching the participants’ emotions, this book illustrates the true nature of endurance races – the tension, exhaustion, and the dedication.

Six Porsche class wins at the Eifel marathonStuttgart.

Nürburgring 24-hour race
Porsche customer teams managed to secure a number of successes at the Nürburgring 24-hour race, witnessed by 205,000 spectators: In six categories, sports cars from Zuffenhausen claimed the number one spot on the podium.

In the overall classification, the best 911 GT3 R finished on position 6. With a record number of 44 cars, the sports car manufacturer made up the lion’s share of the grid for the first time at Germany’s largest motorsport event.

Manthey Racing won the SP7 class with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR. The Black Falcon TMD Friction squad beat the opposition in the SP10 and V6 classes with the Porsche Cayman GT4 and the Porsche Carrera.

The Care for Climate team associated with the German rapper “Smudo” (Die Fantastischen Vier) won the AT class with the Porsche Cayman GT4. Teichmann Racing proved unbeatable in the Cup 3 class with the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport, as did the Porsche Cayman of PROsport Performance in the V5 category.

The #150 Cayman GT4 Clubsport also performed well in the SP-X class, finishing 2nd after a mostly trouble-free race, only beaten to first place by the pole-setting SCG003C.

The best Porsche 911 GT3 R in the overall classification was the vehicle with the starting number 31.

Taking up the race from 29th on the grid, Michael Christensen, Klaus Bachler, Lucas Luhr and Norbert Siedler driving for Frikadelli Racing Team made their way up the field to finish the Eifel marathon on 6th position. Their teammates in the #30 car put in a spirited drive to bring the Porsche home in 17th position after 24 hours.

Four other Porsche 911 GT3 R didn’t make it to the chequered flag at the 45th running of the long-distance classic.

Manthey Racing’s 500 hp nine-elevens with the starting number 59 and 12 were sidelined with technical troubles. The #911 had to be pushed back to the garage after being shunted from the race. The same fate met Falken Motorsports’ Porsche 911 GT3 R (#44).

160 vehicles with more than 600 drivers took up the 45th edition of the Eifel marathon.

Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, Vice President of Motorsport and GT cars:

“Porsche was very successful in the classes, which underlines that Porsche’s customer and clubsport were important in all classes here at the Nürburgring. On the other hand, when we look at the top class it’s rather disheartening. We had a lot of bad luck and we lost the cars due to accidents. There were also technical problems with two customer vehicles which forced us to finally pull four of the six GT3 cars out. However, the two other vehicles tackled the 24-hour race without problems. A top ten result is okay, but it’s not why we’d travelled to the Nürburgring.”

Michael Christensen (911 GT3 R #31):

“I’m satisfied with this result. The mechanics, engineers and drivers worked well together. Over the entire 24 hours we didn’t touch any other vehicle, and that’s pretty unusual for the Green Hell. At least the shower at the end played in our hands. We changed to wet weather tires and so Lucas was able to make it up to P6.”

Patrick Pilet (911 GT3 R #911):

“This is a tough result for the entire team, we’ve all worked very hard over the past weeks. We fought hard and tried everything, but unfortunately we couldn’t fix the car after the incident with another contender. That’s how it is in the Green Hell, anything can happen here. We have to look to the future and return even stronger next year.”

Laurens Vanthoor (911 GT3 R #44):

“This retirement is disappointing. We worked our way up the field without taking too many risks. Our pace was good, but ultimately the Nürburgring won and we lost.”

Overall race result

1. De Phillippi/Mies/Winkelhock/van der Linde (US/D/D/D), Audi R8 LMS, 158 Runden

2. Palttala/Catsburg/Sims/Westbrook (BE/NL/GB/GB), BMW M6 GT3, 158 Runden

Video: Porsche Sport Driving School in Leipzig, …You win races in your head.

Date: 15.08.–16.08.2015

at Porsche in Leipzig

our FIA-certified on-road circuit,

which is modelled on famous sections from racetracks around the world.

0857

Master RSR

Have you already developed excellent vehicle control at the Porsche Sport Driving School? Do you now feel confident on the racetrack? Are you experienced in the use of lateral and longitudinal acceleration in our road-going cars? Then you are ready for the next challenge.

0618

You can now look forward to taking the next step towards the world of motorsport hand in hand with the Porsche Sport Driving School. Our Master RSR training focuses on how to drive safely in Porsche race cars. The number of participants is limited exclusively to just 12 people.

Training takes place in the six Porsche 991 GT3 Cup vehicles provided – each one with the individual support of a Porsche instructor experienced in racing and a factory-trained Porsche mechanic.

1115

Over the course of the two training days, your instructor and a Porsche works driver will teach you the basic techniques of driving Porsche race cars. After you have become acquainted with the vehicle controls and your new surroundings, you will begin with exercises on effective braking – with or without ABS. Your instructor will help you to find the optimum brake balance. Other aspects covered on the course include how to shift gear correctly and identify the racing line. Particular emphasis is placed on optimum, yet steady acceleration out of bends – without traction control – and controlling and minimising unwanted load-changing reactions – without PSM.

Special attention is also given to safe overtaking manoeuvres and performing ‘standing’ and ‘flying’ starts. When driving laps, you should be able to find the optimum line over the entire course. In addition to the 991 GT3 Cup vehicles, participants are also provided with the latest generation 911 GT3 or 911 GT3 RS models for individual warm-up exercises.

0288

One-to-one feedback on the development of your driving skills is provided by your Porsche instructor – for this, your performance is recorded during the various stints on the circuit using assessment drives or video and data analysis. Naturally, slick tyres are used to ensure optimum performance. Rain tyres may also be used, depending on the weather. In addition to developing your driving skills, we also focus on providing you with detailed information about the vehicle, as well as the equipment required during circuit driving.

VIDEO New Porsche 911 GT3 RS: the race car for the circuit racetrack and everyday driving, celebrates world premiere at Geneva International Motor Show

New high-performance sports car celebrates world premiere at Geneva International Motor Show

Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, Matthias Müller, presents the Cayman GT4 and 911GT3 RS at the Geneva Auto Show

Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, Matthias Müller, presents the Cayman GT4 and 911GT3 RS at the Geneva Auto Show

Porsche 911 GT3 RS: the race car for the circuit racetrack and everyday driving

Stuttgart. In the new 911 GT3 RS, Porsche is once again breaking down the barrier between sports cars and race cars. It is equipped with the maximum degree of motorsport technology that is currently possible in a street-legal 911 that is suitable for everyday driving.

S15_0304_fine

Extensive modifications to its drive system, aerodynamics and lightweight design enhance performance even more than in the 911 GT3. With a lap time of seven minutes and 20 seconds, the new 911 GT3 RS even beats the historic record value of the Carrera GT super sports car of just under seven minutes and 29 seconds on the North Loop of the Nürburgring.

S15_0305_fine

This once again qualifies the high-performance sports car as the benchmark in its class – directly at its launch. The 911 GT3 RS is celebrating its world premiere at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show.

Motorsport expertise is the reason for this superior performance. The 911 GT3 RS is powered by a four-litre six-cylinder engine with 500 hp (368 kW) of power and 460 Newton metres of torque, combined with a specially developed PDK transmission.

911 GT3 RS

The engine, which has the largest displacement and most power of any naturally aspirated engine with direct fuel injection in the 911 family, accelerates the high-performance sports car from zero to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and to 200 km/h in 10.9 seconds. Its combined NEDC fuel consumption is 12.7 l/100 km.

911 GT3 RS

Functions such as de-clutching by “paddle neutral” – which is comparable to pressing the clutch with a conventional manual gearbox – and speed limiting by the Pit Speed button have been customised for motorsport use. They give drivers more freedom in terms of driving dynamics, while also providing them with more assistance when driving on a circuit racetrack.

911 GT3 RS

The 911 GT3 RS is a masterpiece of intelligent lightweight design. For the first time, the roof is made of magnesium; carbon fibre is used for the engine and luggage compartment lids, and other lightweight components are made of alternative materials.

911 GT3 RS

This makes the RS model around ten kilograms lighter than the 911 GT3. In addition, the lightweight roof lowers the sports car’s centre of gravity which improves its excellent lateral dynamics. The body comes from the 911 Turbo, and it signifies its status as nearly a race car driving machine with its RS-specific aerodynamic add-on parts. The front spoiler lip, which extends nearly to the road, and the large rear wing reinforce its dominant look.

911 GT3 RS

A 30 centimetre wide recess extends centrally over the CRFP bonnet and the magnesium roof. This feature is a stylistic reference to the recess on the luggage compartment lid of the classic 911 models with air-cooled engines, and today it identifies the two largest lightweight components in the 911 GT3 RS. Another characteristic is the unique front wheel arch air vents that extend into the upper section of the wings – just as in purebred motorsport cars. They increase downforce at the front axle.

911 GT3 RS

The chassis of the 911 GT3 RS has been tuned for maximum driving dynamics and precision. Rear-axle steering and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus with fully variable rear axle differential lock increase agility and dynamics, and the wider front and rear track widths enable even better roll stability than in the 911 GT3. In addition, the 911 GT3 RS comes with the widest tyres of any 911 model as standard. The results: even more agile turn-in characteristics and even higher cornering speeds.

Interieur 911 GT3 RS

The interior design of the 911 GT3 RS with Alcantara elements is based on the current 911 GT3. One key new feature is the full bucket seats, which are based on the carbon bucket seats of the 918 Spyder. Other standard features are the Club Sport Package with a bolted-on roll cage behind the front seats, preparation for a battery master switch, and separately provided six-point safety harness for the driver and fire extinguisher with mounting bracket. The optional Sport Chrono Package, which features – in addition to its integrated timers – the Porsche Track Precision app for a smartphone.

Interieur 911 GT3 RS

The Track Precision app can be used to have lap times automatically measured via GPS, and to log data on a smartphone for many driving parameters such as vehicle speed, lateral acceleration as well as acceleration and deceleration in the driving direction. It manages this data and lets the driver share and compare it with other drivers.

The 911 GT3 RS can be ordered now, and it will launch on the German market starting in May 2015. In Germany, its price is 181,690 euros including VAT and country-specific equipment.

911 GT3 RS: Fuel consumption urban 19.2 l/100 km; extra-urban 8.9 l/100 km; combined 12.7 l/100 km; CO2 emissions 296 g/km; efficiency class (Germany): G

911 GT3: Fuel consumption urban 18.9 l/100 km; extra-urban 8.9 l/100 km; combined 12.4 l/100 km; CO2 emissions 289 g/km; efficiency class (Germany): G

New Porsche Classic Radio Navigation System

P15_0170_a4_rgb

The purpose-built unit combines the style of yesteryear with the benefits of modern technology. It fits perfectly into the DIN-1 slot that has been used in the sports cars for decades and is operated by means of two knobs, six discreetly integrated buttons and a touch-sensitive 3.5-inch display.

Classic on the outside yet ultra modern on the inside: the Porsche Classic Radio Navigation System.

It is suitable for all classic Porsche cars with a DIN-1 slot. From the 911 F-model, to the 911 type 993, and for both four and eight-cylinder vehicles (excluding the Porsche 356).
This short video clip points out the most important USPs: Map-Navigation, phone calls via bluetooth, the use of the USB port and perfect fitting into the dashboard.

Thanks to the appearance of the black surface and the shape of the knobs, which are supplied in two authentically styled versions as standard, the navigation radio blends harmoniously into the dashboard of classic Porsche models. It bears the Porsche lettering and is suitable for the sports car generations between the first 911 from the 1960s and the last of the 911 series with air cooling from the mid 1990s (993 series), including the earlier front-engine and mid-engine models.

Exclusively developed and adapted for classic Porsche sports cars

The new navigation radio comes with all the key features of today’s systems. In addition to low-interference radio reception and precise navigation, it has interfaces for a variety of external music sources that can be controlled from the display. A smartphone can be connected via Bluetooth. In addition, the classic radio not only has a built-in microphone but also comes with an external microphone. The integrated amplifier delivers 4×45 watts and can be connected either directly to the loudspeakers or to the original sound system using an optional adapter cable.

Porsche Cayenne GTS Cayenne Turbo S

The navigation radio by Porsche Classic

The new navigation radio has been exclusively developed for Porsche Classic and specially for the classic sports cars. Radio reception, for instance, has been optimised for the built-in aerial supplied ex-works, which is generally only a single telescope. The operating concept of the device is based on Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and has undergone extensive testing at the Technical University in Munich to verify its user friendliness.

Numerous trial journeys have been undertaken in Europe to test the country-specific navigation. Drivers have a choice of arrows and two-dimensional or three-dimensional maps to display the route. The maps are stored on a microSD card with eight gigabytes of memory and are updated regularly. In Germany, the new navigation radio is available immediately from Porsche Classic Partners or Centres and costs 1,184 euros including VAT.

Porsche Classic combines tradition and innovation of modern and vintage cars

P15_0168_a4_rgb

Porsche Classic is a division of the sports car manufacturer responsible for the maintenance of vehicles which were generally produced more than ten years ago. Its services cover all aspects of care and technical literature as well as the supply and reproduction of original parts and even extend to complete restoration. The company is expanding its international dealer and service network to around 100 Porsche Classic Partners for the optimal support and overhaul of classic cars in the next years.

Porsche customers and potential customers can expect the complete range of Porsche Classic services from the partners. Through this measure, Porsche has integrated the care and value retention of modern classic and vintage cars in an innovative service concept, closely linking Porsche tradition and Porsche innovation.
